Local community organisation, Bristol Energy Cooperative, are currently crowdfunding to design a hydro-electric scheme on the river Avon at Netham Weir, St. Annes. This would be the first of its kind in Bristol and generate enough renewable energy to power 250 homes.

The project has already received Environment Agency and council planning permissions and with a little help, it can now become a trail-blazing un-subsidised renewable energy project. Bristol Energy Cooperative have already raised 50% of their initial target, from over 80 supporters, but need to raise a further £5k by 2 August 2019.
