Since September 2020, we’ve been undertaking a procurement exercise to identify our future Strategic Partner for City Leap – the organisation or consortium that will work with the council to deliver more than £1 billion of investment towards Bristol becoming a zero-carbon, smart energy city by 2030.

Following a diverse range of bids, our evaluation has whittled interest down to a shortlist of three organisations and consortiums that will progress through to the final stages of the procurement exercise and be presented to Bristol’s Mayor and Cabinet as part of an update on the initiative in December.

The three potential strategic partners that the council will take through to the final stages of procurement are:

  • Ameresco Limited, with Vattenfall Heat UK Limited as an Essential Sub-Contractor.
  • ENGIE Services Holding UK Ltd and Sumitomo Corporation (acting as a consortium), with Abundance Investment Ltd as an Essential Sub-Contractor.
  • E.ON UK PLC and Marubeni Corporation (acting as a consortium).

The council’s search for a partner is expected to conclude in 2021 and more information on Bristol’s City Leap initiative can be found in the December Cabinet report.
